About this time an anti-trust law was passed and the watch case manufacturers formed a boycott against. In 1886, Dueber, who had been making cases for the Hampden Watch Company, purchased a controlling interest in the company. Dueber founded the Dueber Watch Case Company in Cincinnati, Ohio to manufacture cases for fine watches. Until 1927 they produced nearly five million watches. Originally from Massachusetts they moved to Canton, Ohio, where they built a large factory in 1888. Which made movements and the Dueber Case Co. Result ed from a com binat ion of the Ham pden Wa tch C o. Hampden and Dueber-Hampden The HAMPD EN WAT CH CO. An effort has been made to correlate case serial numbers to dates, based upon the seial numbers of the movements seemingly origianally housed by Dueber cases. Surviving Dueber records relating case serial numbers to dates, if they ever existed, have not yet (as of this writing in February, 2018) come to light.
